-Description

Audemars Piguet was founded by Jules-Louis Audemars and Edouard-Auguste Piguet in Le Brassus in the Vallée de Joux. Since its founding in 1875, it is the oldest watch brand that has been consistently managed by the founding family.

Since its founding, the company has been manufacturing complicated watches such as perpetual calendars, chronographs, and sonnerie watches, and is one of the world's three major brands, the "Big Three", along with Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe.

The Royal Oak, the brand's signature model, is a watch featuring a stainless steel case, octagonal bezel, “tapestry” dial, and integrated bracelet, designed by Gerald Genta and launched in 1972.

The Royal Oak revolutionized the conventional wisdom of luxury watches and established a new category known as “luxury sports watch.”

This Ref. 56175 is a model equipped with a quartz movement in a 33mm case, which is even smaller than the medium size. It was sold from the late 1980s to the early 2000s.

This example features a very rare, deep and vivid blue dial that differs from the usual blue dial of Royal Oak.

This blue dial is very close to the Klein blue color created by French artist Yves Klein, so collectors have given it the name Royal Oak "Yves Klein" or "Klein Blue Dial".

Yves Klein was born in 1928 and, in his short life of just over 34 years, produced numerous masterpieces and became a highly acclaimed artist worldwide.

In 1957, Klein exhibited a series of blue paintings on canvas using a pigment he developed himself at a solo exhibition in Milan titled "Monochrome Proposals, Blue Epoch".

The exhibition was a critical and commercial success, and is said to have brought him into the limelight. In 1960, he named the pigment "International Klein Blue" and registered a patent for it with the National Institute of Industrial Property.

The dial is close to the unique blue that draws the viewer in, and the blue dial watch itself is very rare, making it popular among collectors.

In addition, in 2023, an image of rapper Jay-Z wearing this Klein Blue Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar was posted on social media, which led to the dial becoming more well-known and popular.

The condition of the case of this watch is very good, it is non-polished and shows almost no signs of use. You can see the sharpness of the lug and bezel in particular.

The dial, hands, and indices are all in excellent condition. Additionally, the watch comes with the original box and paper, making it a complete set.

The bracelet shows no signs of sagging and is in excellent condition. The clasp features an openwork ladder-like design. The bracelet is adjustable to fit wrist sizes up to 19cm circumference.

The warranty paper is stamped with a stamp indicating that the watch was sold by an authorized dealer in Japan in 2005, so its provenance is also clear.

The movement is equipped with the quartz Cal. 2612. It is an extremely thin movement at just 1.9mm thick, and has been used in two-hand round watches in addition to the Royal Oak.

It can be worn as a luxury sports watch for everyday use, or it would make a great addition to your collection.

This is a very rare variation among steel Royal Oak models, making it an exceptionally recommended piece.
